Our Story
I built Mirri because I had to.
Hi, I'm Greg — the founder of Mirri, and someone who is living with type one diabetes as you read this. I was diagnosed a few years ago, and like most people, I was told to count carbs, dose insulin based on my ratios, and keep adjusting. But despite doing everything "right," I kept running into the same wall: life didn't follow the textbook.
I'd crash halfway through tennis. Go high an hour after pickleball. Feel fine before eating chicken fingers and fries, only to spiral afterward. I started saying no to milkshakes with friends, skipping games, or stressing before meals I used to love — not because I didn't want to enjoy them, but because I was afraid of what they would do to my blood sugar.
The problem wasn't that I wasn't tracking enough — it was that the tools I had weren't showing me the right things. Traditional apps focus on carbs. What I needed was a way to understand insulin sensitivity: how different activities, foods, and situations were affecting how my body responded to insulin in real time. So I built one.
That's where the idea for CarbIn values came in — a number that compares how many carbs I ate to how much insulin I used, adjusted for my own insulin-to-carb ratio. Soon I was creating "Playbook" entries: saved CarbIn values tied to real-life events like "Tennis at 3 PM," "Fries and a milkshake," or "sick day" — references I could use to prepare ahead of time instead of reacting afterward.
Mirri gave me back the ability to live without second-guessing — as confidently as I could before diagnosis. Now, after years of using and refining it, I'm sharing Mirri with others. It's helped me understand my diabetes faster and more deeply than anything I was ever taught, and I believe it can do the same for you.
